let there be beach
Genesis 1:9,10 And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. 10 God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good.” I love the beach just as much as the next person...maybe more. The beach is a beautiful and calming place that many of us are deeply drawn to for many reasons. The word, beach, or water’s edge is the succinct description of where water meets land. In Genesis, when God says, "let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear," He is essentially creating a place where water and land meet even if merely a biproduct of a much larger purpose. Essentially, God is saying, "let there be beach."
For many of us, we are wired for beach life, and I believe that the beach, or the place where water and land meet, serves a much larger purpose. It is possible that this meeting place is wired for us to experience a deeper, more personal, and loving relationship with God...a place where God has our undivided attention so that He can provide us with joy, relaxation, and escape from our daily, self-inflicted stress and chaos.
